Created in 1996, Lusófona University promote training and theoretical/applied research in the fields of communication and art, namely in areas which are related with the use of Games and new digital media. The University strongly encourages a focus on entrepreneurship and cross-sectional competences and from the very beginning of the training, students learn how to compete and how to comply with the profession’s requirements. The University brings to the consortium both its experience in fields of specialisation such as Game Design, Game Programming, Game Art, and its expertise in the crossing between games and new media formats languages.

LUCA School of Arts

Genk, Belgium

LUCA School of Arts in Belgium is a unique institution dedicated to art and design education. It stands out as the only university college in the Flemish region exclusively focused on art and design. Furthermore, it is associated with KU Leuven, one of Europe's oldest and most renowned research universities, which lends it significant academic credibility and resources.

LUCA School of Arts has a distinctive approach to art and design education by combining the strengths and expertise of five different art and design campuses located in Brussels, Genk, Ghent, and Leuven. Each of these institutions has its own strengths and unique identity. By collaborating under the LUCA banner, they offer a synergistic blend of academic, artistic, and professional resources. This collaborative approach encourages students to work across different programs and institutions, providing them with a diverse and well-rounded educational experience. It prepares them for a dynamic future in the artistic and design fields.

Facilities and Equipment

University Lusófona offers a wide range of available game technologies, such as Game Labs equipped with 30 gaming workstations, a VR lab with several headsets, a motion Capture Studio equipped with 20 cameras (Vicon System), 3D animation Labs, and a game design Lab to develop alternative controller games.

At LUCA School of Arts, we're enhancing creativity with specialized wacom rooms, 22 gaming workstations, VR-headsets, advanced Fab-lab, a Maker’s lab, upgraded recording studios, and professional gear. These resources empower students to innovate, explore, and excel across diverse artistic disciplines.
