The Aalto School of Arts, Design and Architecture is a Nordic leader in higher education for design, fashion, games, media, architecture, film, art education and art. The Department of Film, Television and Scenography (ELO Film School Finland) consists of two-degree programmes. The film school was founded in 1959, and it is one of the oldest film schools in Europe and globally.
The Department endorses practice-based research with questions emerging from experiences in artistic and production work. The research activities aim at producing new theoretical and practical knowledge, insights and approaches to filmmaking and scenography. Aalto Studios offer an excellent infrastructure for Audiovisual education and research. A new Aalto Studios building will be opened in 2021.
