Solip Park

Solip is Doctor of Arts and a lecturer of Replay at Aalto University School of Arts, Design, and Architecture in Finland. She has been teaching and researching the game industry in Finland since 2020 and has also conducted visiting lectures at institutions in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, South Korea, and China. She is also a researcher at the University of Jyväskylä and its EU-funded "Ontological Reconstruction of Gaming Disorder (ORE)" project. Prior to her academic career, Solip worked at game companies and startups in the USA, South Korea, and Finland, focusing on project management and international relations.
Solip’s current research interests include immigrants in the game industry and cultural diversity in game productions. She has also researched the influence of micro-transactions in games and gamer consumer activism. Solip is also an active comic artist, author and artist of the "Game Expats Story" comic series, which is a comical visualisation of her research on migrant game developers.
Solip was one of the founding members of Nexon Computer Museum - the first permanent museum in East Asia dedicated to the history of computer and video games, located in South Korea. She is also one of the active organising members of the Finnish Game Jam Association and their “Global Game Jam” events in Finland.
Solip also has two master's degrees: one from Carnegie Mellon University in the USA (Master of Entertainment Technology) and one from Aalto University in Finland (Master of Arts). Her doctoral research at Aalto University (Doctor of Arts) received a Dissertation Award in 2025.
