Application Requirements
The REPLAY call for 2026–2028 will open on October 15, 2025, and close on January 9, 2026!
Students from all over the world are welcome to apply to this program, including those with diplomas in various fields of study, provided they have relevant professional experience in game design and production.
The following requirements must be met by all applicants:

Application Form: Must be completed online and submitted by the specified deadlines. All the documents must be in English; if not, provide a certified translation. Applications sent by regular mail will not be accepted.
- Identification Document: A copy of your passport (for non-European citizens) or European identification card (for EU citizens). This must be an official document that includes a photograph and personal details, such as first name, surname, and date and place of birth, all in English (as in passports). We recommend that the expiration date covers the entire duration of the master's program (until August 2028). (PDF)
- Photograph: A recent headshot photograph. (IMG)
- Diploma: A final university diploma from a Bachelor's (BA) or Master's (MA) degree is required, along with official transcripts. The diploma must meet at least the National Framework Qualifications level 8 or the European Qualifications Framework level 6. If the diploma is not in English, an official certified translation, including the university’s stamp, is required. In addition, the diploma must be legally valid for international use, this may involve an apostille (under the Hague Convention) or notarization/legalization, depending on the country of issuance. It is the applicant’s responsibility to verify and complete the appropriate legalization process according to the regulations in their country. For other cases, please check the FAQ. (PDF)
- CV (Curriculum Vitae): Provide your professional qualifications, work experience, completed projects, job positions, responsibilities, and relevant skills in game design or production.
Recommended format: Europass structure. (PDF) - Motivation Letter: Explain in detail your motivation for applying to REPLAY, focusing on why you believe you are a good fit for the program. Your letter should address the following points:
- (1) the topics you want to explore;
- (2) your preferred types of game projects;
- (3) what you hope to achieve through this master’s program; and
- (4) the experiences you aim to create.
No specific format is required; however, your name and the date must be included.
Limit: 3,000 characters (excluding spaces). (PDF)
- Post-Mortem: Include a post-mortem of up to two games or projects you have worked on. We are looking for your motivation, critical reflection on the work, key takeaways, and, if it was a team project, your role and what you learned from teamwork.
Limit: 2,000 characters per project (excluding spaces). (PDF) - Portfolio: A PDF portfolio (using the provided template) featuring a maximum of 5 games or projects across up to 7 pages:
- Template: REPLAY Portfolio Template.
- Page 1: short bio and photo.
- Pages 2–6: one project per page. Include the project name, your role, whether it was a solo or group project (and if group, include how many members), 3 or 4 images, and a clickable link for more information.
- Page 7: relevant links such as itch.io, Steam page, personal website, etc. These will be reviewed if necessary.
The most important requirement is that the portfolio follows this structure. The color scheme, image layout, and text arrangement may be adjusted if the candidate considers it necessary.
- Showreel: A video with a maximum duration of 3 minutes, including:
- The first 30 seconds: a self-presentation where we can see you talking to the camera.
- The following 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes 30 seconds: a showcase of your projects (with subtitles indicating your role).
By “projects,” we mean games, game design or production work, or animation/art pieces that demonstrate relevant skills.
If the video includes group projects, please add subtitles indicating your specific role or tasks. You may also include a voice-over to describe your work. (Link)
- Proof of Proficiency in the English Language: Further requirements are listed below. (PDF)
- Residence Certificate: A residence certificate issued in accordance with the candidate's municipality’s normal registration rules or, a certificate from the candidate's place of work, study or training issued by the employer or institution in question, confirming your current full address. It must include your name, address, date, and preferably signature and stamp. (PDF)
